These oil paintings explore the genre of fifties box brownie snap shots, symbols of things past, caretakers of our childhood; a time when kids' worlds were restricted to the back yard, a space defined by the paling fence and the weatherboard house. The washing flapping in the breeze on the hill's hoist, the kid on the three-wheeler tricycle; siblings, rivals, mum ever present. A traditional rite of passage in a bygone era.
